Neil Mason is a versatile/abstract sculpture, born in the culturally rich coastal region of South West Wales (Cymru). Surrounded by verdant landscapes, Neil was plentifully inspired and displayed early inclination to work with clay, influenced by Pablo Picasso, Antonio Canova, Antonio Canova and François-Auguste-René. Nonetheless, he channeled his creativity into a successful professional career in mental health care, publicly serving both as a clinician and senior manager. Mid-career, Neil felt induced to revisit his artistic craving and explored the inborn genius for sculpting. Successively, his sculptures received numerous Awards to name a few; the “Wildlife Artist of the Year” at the David Shepherd Foundation, “Honorary Fellow Member” Gold and Silver Citation, “Certificate of Artistic Achievement” at “The Wildlife Art Society International”. His work was exhibited in Cork Street, Mayfair, London, across Wales-England, Greece, and Italy as a selected artist at the Florence Biennale 2023. Inspired by wildlife’s biodiverse adaptation throughout his oeuvre, Neil’s abstract bronzes hint at naive-art echoing its pictographic origin, combining representational form with calligraphic lines of cuneiform writing, where he links antiquity with contemporary expressions, whilst revealing an underlaying complexity adorned with simplistic beauty.
